Applicants should have an M.D., Pharm.D. and/or Ph.D., and an interest in innovative research and novel approaches to treating antimicrobial-resistant infections, including small molecules discovery, pre-clinical animal models, pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling, bacteriophage therapy, and/or other alternative therapeutics. Additional areas of interest include computational biology, bioinformatics, and host-defense expertise. Clinician-scientists are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to studying antimicrobial-resistant pathogens. Ongoing or anticipated R01 (or equivalent) funding is strongly preferred. Startup resources and compensation are available commensurate with experience. General Rank Requirements: An Assistant Professor should have demonstrated teaching ability, experience in advanced study and research, or professional experience that would enable them to make academic contributions. An Associate Professor will have a strong experience with an impactful scholarship, a local, regional, and developing national/international reputation, effectiveness as a teacher, and service. Overview of the Division: The Division of Infectious Diseases is comprised of more than 90 faculty members. Major strengths of the Division include HIV/AIDs, Transplant Infectious Diseases, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Antimicrobial Resistance, Infection Prevention, and Hospital Epidemiology. Several basic and translational research laboratories are focused on the epidemiology, genomic epidemiology, and mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance. Robust clinical research programs are also in place across the Division specializing in HIV, Transplant ID, and innovative clinical trials. The Division includes 6 Centers of Excellence, including the Center for Innovative Antimicrobial Therapy (CIAT) which was established with the goal of developing long-term solutions to combat the antimicrobial resistance crisis. CIAT brings together principal investigators with shared interests and complementary expertise to generate successful collaborative research programs. Faculty within CIAT include internationally-recognized experts in mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, functional genomics, clinical trials, molecular diagnostics, pre-clinical infection models and alternative therapies, including bacteriophages, antimicrobial peptides, and fecal microbiota transplantation. The successful candidate will join a robust research environment at a world-class institution that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and attracts the top scholars globally.
