Position description For Assistant Professor For Department of Psychiatry
The Department of Psychiatry at McGill University and the Douglas Research Centre are currently inviting applications for a full-time tenure track position in the field of fundamental neuroscience of aging and dementia. This will be a three-year, renewable academic appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor.
Applicants with expertise in any relevant areas will be considered, with priority to those working in animal or iPSC models, state-of-the-art imaging, neuropathology, neuroinflammation, molecular or systems neuroscience, or genomics and epigenomics. Scientists focusing on novel disease mechanisms or therapeutic approaches are especially encouraged to apply.

Integrated within the Douglas Institute, a psychiatric hospital, and the much larger Montreal West-Island Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre, the Douglas Research Centre also offers significant opportunities for carrying out research in collaboration with a wide range of nearby mental health services.
Job Duties Assistant Professor For Department of Psychiatry
The successful candidate will develop a fundamental, disease-relevant research program in their own areas of expertise, aligned with the strategic priorities of the Research Centre and Department of Psychiatry. They are further expected to independently acquire funds to support the training of graduate students at the MSc and Ph.D. level. They must disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and other knowledge translation and exchange activities, participate actively in all aspects of the Research Centre and McGill’s academic mission, and demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in all areas (research, teaching, supervision of graduate students, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).
Educational Qualifications and Requirements For Assistant Professor For Department of Psychiatry
- Must have a PhD in Neuroscience, Health Sciences, or a related field and have completed advanced postdoctoral training;
- Must demonstrate excellent research productivity and the ability to attract competitive funding;
- Have a proven track record in advancing the field of neuroscience;
- Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to and, in accordance with circumstances, a track record in equity, diversity, and inclusiveness (EDI);
- Working knowledge of French, or a commitment to acquiring it within a few years of appointment, is essential.
