The Department of Biology at the University of Washington (UW), Seattle, invites applications for one full-time (9-month) Assistant Teaching Professor with a focus on neuroscience, starting no earlier than June 16, 2023. The initial appointment is for three years, with the possibility of renewal. The position is non-tenure eligible.

The UW Department of Biology is a large collaborative and integrative department that provides a supportive research and teaching environment, actively engages with faculty and students on topics of diversity and equity, has a long-term strategic hiring plan, and now is equipped with classrooms designed for active learning in the new Life Sciences Building. All UW faculty members engage in teaching and service. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach the undergraduate laboratories for Neuroscience 301 and 302, which are largely electrophysiology oriented.  These are the first two courses in the undergraduate Neuroscience Major at UW, a major in which students engage in intensive lecture and laboratory-based training in neuroscience. This candidate will also contribute to teaching efforts in the areas of physiology and neuroscience in the Biology Department. In addition, this person serves as instructor of record for teaching interns from the Graduate Program in Neuroscience. Information about the UW Undergraduate Neuroscience Major can be found at (http://depts.washington.edu/nbio/). The successful candidate will enhance and augment the Department of Biology missions of teaching, service, and outreach.

We welcome candidates from any scientific background who can articulate how their academic experience fits into the physiology and neuroscience area.

Our NSF-supported ADVANCE program http://advance.washington.edu/ is dedicated to increasing the participation of women in STEM disciplines.

The base salary range for this position will be $7278 - 9000  per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
