Postdoctoral Position in Heart Disease, Cardiovascular Medicine-University of California, San Diego
IMPORTANT INFORMATION |
|
Postdoctoral positions are available to study heart failure and conduction system disease in the lab of Dr. Robert Ross at UCSD. NIH and other funded projects focus on cardiac myocyte proteins at cell-matrix and cell-cell connections, including the intercalated disc, as well as other studies in mitochondria, in the normal and diseased heart. We have great interest in understanding mechanotransduction in the heart. Studies make extensive use of genetically manipulated mouse models and cells derived from them. Molecular and biochemical studies are combined with physiological analyses. Additional studies are being pursued using proteomics and cutting-edge microscopy. The lab is in a superb open lab environment on the UCSD campus, where teams from 10 PIs all use basic and translational approaches to study cardiovascular disease.
Qualified candidates should have a PhD, MD or equivalent; be highly motivated and have expertise in molecular and cellular biology. Prior work using mouse models will be helpful but is not absolutely essential. Individuals will work under the guidance of the PI but should be able to function independently and have good organizational skills. Command of spoken and written English is needed.
UCSD postdoctoral salaries and benefits are attractive and will be commensurate with experience. Full benefits are described in detail at : Click Here
Interested individuals should apply by sending a CV, a cover letter, and names with contact information of three professional references to:
