Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Deerfield Management have created the Center for Protein Degradation (CPD). The CPD is seeking a Medicinal Chemist to join the Chemistry Group. This individual will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to identify novel molecular glues and degraders applying their expertise in medicinal and synthetic chemistry.
The CPD has created a next-generation protein degrader and molecular glue platform to advance novel therapeutic modalities. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a newly founded research center that is pushing the boundaries of targeted protein degradation research and accelerating the translation of basic science into clinical solutions. Responsibilities
- Support the medicinal chemistry aspects of hit-to-lead for Center projects.
- Independently plan, manage and perform experiments. Develop project proposals, timelines, and resource needs. Monitor milestones and ensure deliverables are completed on time.
- Design and execute multi-step organic syntheses to deliver novel molecular glues and degraders.
- Collect and analyze experimental data and identify next steps based on outcomes.
- Plan and manage external research efforts with CROs and other collaborators to accelerate CPD projects.
- Present project status and outcomes to colleagues and leadership
- Present and publish research externally.
Qualifications
- PhD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Experience leading medicinal chemistry projects is required.
- Expertise in medicinal chemistry design; structure- and fragment-based drug design experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of research methodologies and emerging technologies such as: HTS screening, small molecular hit-to-lead optimization, medicinal chemistry, structural biology, proteomics, target ID, ADME and PK/PD
- Skilled in use of chemistry lab equipment and experienced in relevant techniques – NMR, LCMS, HPLC, flash chromatography.
- Management experience working with CROs preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Scientific drive, demonstrated by a proven track record of publications in peer reviewed journals.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative and team environment.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; strong attention to detail
