The Kimbrough Lab (www.kimbroughlab.com) is located at Purdue University in West Lafayette Indiana and is housed in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, which is part of the College of Veterinary Medicine. The position is available for a start date within the next 2 to 6 months.
The Postdoctoral researcher will conduct behavioral and histological experiments in preclinical mouse models of alcohol and opioid use disorders. Projects will involve the use of chemogenetic or pharmacological manipulation, whole-brain immunostaining, tissue clearing, and imaging, and computational analysis.
We are seeking someone with a background in behavioral, molecular, or computational neuroscience. Previous experience with rodent behavior, preclinical behavioral models of substance use disorder, stereotaxic surgery, intravenous catheter surgery, histology, and proficiency in python/R are ideal, but are not required.
The Postdoctoral researcher will be expected to contribute to a positive work environment within the lab and work to mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants will be encouraged to submit proposals for independent funding and undertake opportunities for career development. In addition, the Postdoctoral researcher will be expected to contribute input to experimental design, prepare and analyze data, write and publish manuscripts, and regularly present findings at conferences.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Behavioral Psychology, Biology, or another relevant field.
